COMFORT — Emmanuel Flatten says a dam on Cypress Creek upstream from this growing Kendall County town would address its two serious water problems: repeated flooding and a dependence on groundwater.
“This needs to happen, and it has to be a regional effort,” said Flatten, head of the Comfort Floodplain Coalition formed in February.
Since then, seven government entities in surrounding counties have established a planning group to examine regional water issues, including future supply concerns in the Comfort area. Toward that end, Kerr County Commissioners voted last week to seek $34,700 from the Texas Water Development Board to examine the feasibility of a regional water system in eastern Kerr County.
