Congratulations to our Client, Bexar County Water Control & Improvement District #10, for receiving the TCEQ's Outstanding Public Drinking Water System Award for 2012. Each year, the Award is given to only 2 of the thousands of public water utilities in Texas, so it is quite an accomplishment.
BCWCID #10 was secretly nominated for the award by a customer, and received the Award by surprise!
PWSs that receive the Outstanding Public Drinking Water System Award have:
- Met the criteria for being recognized as a superior or approved PWS. These criteria are established by rule in Title 30, Texas Administrative Code, Subsection 290.47(a), Appendix A
- Met the criteria for the Total Coliform Rule Program Award.
- Exceeded the capacity requirements for total storage and production or pressure storage.
- Promoted year-round water conservation.
- Implemented a source water protection program.
- Developed and implemented a vulnerability assessment an emergency response plan.
- Had no major violations or enforcement actions against it for the recognition calendar year.
- Had no Total Coliform Rule violations for calendar years 2008 and 2009.
- Implemented the following source water protection (SWP) activities:
- Emergency Response Plan (Contingency Plan)
- At least one other SWP best management practice (BMP)
