The U.S. Supreme Court denied an appeal by the City of Dallas and the Texas Water development Board in a case that held the fate of a major swath of East Texas in the balance. Based upon the Court of Appeals' now-final ruling, Dallas will not be able to build Lake Fastrill, a huge reservoir that would have become a key piece of that City's longterm water plan.

It has been said "Whiskey is for drinking and water is for fightin." In Texas, water is our most valuable resource, and has become increasingly scarce with our State's population explosion. Naturally, ownership, control and use of water carry tremendous legal and financial implications. Meanwhile, multiple layers of governmental regulation have made acquisition, development, use, marketing, and transmission of water in Texas increasingly complex.
